The forms of plagiarism in Urdu literature

The Urdu literature has a serious problem of plagiarism, which hinders its growth. In fact, the plagiarism does not only hinder the growth of the Urdu language but also earns it a very bad name in the international community.
There are three major types of plagiarism, contaminating the Urdu language and literature. The brief explanations of the types of Urdu plagiarism are as follows.
  • Blatant lifting
Undoubtedly, the Urdu literature has seen some great writers, authors, and poets. However, they are bound to get discouraged when their own so-called counterparts blatantly lift their pieces.
  • Translations without giving any credit
It seems that in Pakistan no one knows the meanings of the copyrights. In Pakistan, there is a constant spread of an evil trend. People are earning their living by stealing literary and informative pieces from other languages and translating it to Urdu. They never give credit to the real writers.
  • The ‘compilations’
People simple do not have any respect for intellectual property of someone. Some publishing houses compile popular pieces by several different writers and publish them as a book. People also lack knowledge and they start buying it because in total they do not have to give as much money.
